About Roof & Router
Roof & Router answers the practical questions that come up when you own a home: how big, how much, how long, and which one. We cover three areas: the house itself, the yard, and the tech that keeps a home running.
Who writes this site
Roof & Router is run by Nazrul Islam. He holds a BSc and an MSc in Physics from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and teaches physics at college level. Watts, watt-hours, heat loss and efficiency are the subjects he teaches, and they sit behind a lot of home decisions: what a space heater costs to run, how long a battery lasts, why a fridge needs a big burst of power to start.
He is based in Bangladesh and writes for homeowners in the United States, so everything here uses US units, US electricity rates and US government data.
What we do and don't do
- We research from manufacturer specifications, government data and large sets of owner reviews.
- We build calculators that show their formulas, so you can check our math.
- We do not test products in a lab, and we never claim we did.
- We do not accept payment for coverage or rankings.
Read how we research and our editorial policy for the details.
